The Balmoral Sire Evaluation Group is committed to providing a successful and well regarded contribution to a continuous genetic improvement of the Australian Merino wool & sheep industry.
Our aim: To evaluate and promote leading sires suited to fine wool production in Western Victoria
The trials are connected to several Merino sire evaluation programs in progress throughout Australia.
Linked to the Central Test Sire Evaluation (CTSE) data, the trial provides the opportunity for objective comparisons to be made between rams from different studs by evaluating their progeny.
The progeny are all run in the same environmental conditions, the male progeny being marked.
This evaluation is an accredited sire evaluation program run under the guidelines of the Australian Merino Sire Evaluation Association (AMSEA). During the two year program, established guidelines are followed to enable an accurate and fair comparison of the merino rams entered allowing the results to be published in the Merino Superior Sires report.
